The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for leading a consistent group of preschool-aged children (ages 3–5) through daily outdoor, nature-based learning experiences. This role combines thoughtful early childhood practice with hands-on facilitation, observation, and care.
Lead Teachers are responsible for the daily rhythm of the class, child safety, classroom culture, and collaboration with assistant staff.
Key Responsibilities

Lead daily outdoor preschool programming aligned with Wild School values

Create a calm, engaging, and safe learning environment

Guide children through play-based and experiential learning

Observe, document, and reflect on child development

Communicate professionally with staff and leadership

Supervise and support Assistant Teachers

Maintain consistency in routines, expectations, and transitions

Schedule
Fixed schedule for the school year. Options vary by location and may include:

Monday–Thursday, 9:00–1:00

Monday–Friday, 9:00–3:00
Guaranteed 20–30 hours per week during the school year.

Compensation

Starting at $18/hour, depending on experience and credentials

Qualifications (Required)
-
Early Learning Certificate, CDA, or degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field)

Experience working with young children in a group setting

Strong classroom presence, reliability, and communication skills

Comfort working outdoors in varied weather conditions

Ability to manage a group independently and professionally
