LEAD PRESCHOOL TEACHER

The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for leading a consistent group of preschool-aged children (ages 3–5) through daily outdoor, nature-based learning experiences. This role combines thoughtful early childhood practice with hands-on facilitation, observation, and care.

Lead Teachers are responsible for the daily rhythm of the class, child safety, classroom culture, and collaboration with assistant staff.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily outdoor preschool programming aligned with Wild School values

  • Create a calm, engaging, and safe learning environment

  • Guide children through play-based and experiential learning

  • Observe, document, and reflect on child development

  • Communicate professionally with staff and leadership

  • Supervise and support Assistant Teachers

  • Maintain consistency in routines, expectations, and transitions

Schedule

Fixed schedule for the school year. Options vary by location and may include:

  • Monday–Thursday, 9:00–1:00

  • Monday–Friday, 9:00–3:00

Guaranteed 20–30 hours per week during the school year.

Compensation

  • Starting at $18/hour, depending on experience and credentials

  • Hourly position

​

Qualifications (Required)

  • Early Learning Certificate, CDA, or degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field)

  • Experience working with young children in a group setting

  • Strong classroom presence, reliability, and communication skills

  • Comfort working outdoors in varied weather conditions

  • Ability to manage a group independently and professionally
